Okay, guys, kiss and make up.

The positive impact on Hickey School youths of caring for the horses was anticipated, but the horses change, too.

Young Jedi was a stall weaver, a cribber, big and really hard to handle. Two of the youths, unaccustomed to horses, begged to be allowed to take care of the feisty animal. The farm manager agreed, but kept a close eye on them.

"Almost right away," he said, "Jedi sensed that those kids would never hurt him. They stroked him and crooned to him and loved him, and he became putty in their hands."
